Il Pezzatino
Hello, my name is Alessandra; Together with my husband and my two children, we would like to tell you all about our agriturismo, our working farm, which is a small estate in the hills close to Rufina. Our family has owned this land since the sixties, many changes have taken place since then.
In the cultivated fields, every plot of land is made use of. One can still imagine the peasants, the stable, the farmyard animals, and the vineyards, with the olive groves in the full splendour of their fruit fullness.
Many fragrances and colours remind one of the land, flowers and fruits, and of the unique smell which eminated from the family kitchen, soup, stews, and the exceptional bread, which was traditionally cooked in the “forno a legna” (an oven which uses firewood).
Life was hard, but authentic. However, many people did not appreciate this authenticity, and for this reason deserted the fields.
Perhaps it is not possible to re-establish the past, but we have a great desire to live as much as possible in contact with nature and traditional ways. For this reason, my family and I have decided to restore our property, and create some space to share with our guests.
The vineyard, the olive trees, the cellar and our farmhouse, which we have converted into an agriturismo (farm), reflects the origin of this environment, where our guests can relax and enjoy our reality.
I have a dream now: I would like to initiate a cultural point, related to the deeds of this territory (wine and food tasting, art exhibitions and educational activities).
I hope to succeed in this project, not only for my own satisfaction, but also so that I can offer my guests the opportunity to experience the culture of this region, and the values of our people, thus creating a harmony between our farm and our guests. Also to establish the initiation of a long term, long distance friendship;
You will hopefully feel that a part of your being belongs to our land.
Welcome, Alessandra
